Grandparents

What would new parents do without their child's grandparents?? I have been sharing daily with my mom the woes of parenthood about how little Aubrey sleeps, how tired I am, etc. etc... So when she and my step-father came for a few days last week to visit they gave me the best birthday present imaginable... SLEEP! They offered to keep Aubrey with them and only bring her to me when she needed to eat. This sounded like heaven because our sweet daughter is the loudest baby on the planet. She grunts and groans louder than a chainsaw, and sounds like she swallowed a whistle when she sleeps. Consequently, I wake up every three minutes to make sure she is ok. I warned my mom about the never-ending noise and gave her a heads up that she would probably want to eat every three hours.

I fed Aubrey at 9:30 and lovingly placed her in the care of Grandma and Grandpa Waldorf. At 2:30 am, I woke up in a panic (and a bit of pain, which new moms can undertstand) because I hadn't fed her yet. I rushed out, thinking surely someone gave her a bottle! But no, she was still sound asleep as she had been for the past FIVE HOURS! I fed her, handed her back to the baby experts and she snoozed fo another four!

Again, Aubrey showed off her sleeping skills when Grandma Finn babysat last Saturday while Kevin and I went to his ten-year reunion. After all of our complaining, Judy expected to be up all night, using every trick in the book to get Aubrey to sleep. Once again, she proved Kevin and me wrong. Grandma gave her a bottle, she promptly fell asleep at 9:00 and was still sleeping when we got home at 1:00.

Ever since we got home to Miami, I have been trying my best to duplicate the results with no luck. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to check on Aubrey... she seems to be awake after her 20 minute nap.

Keena- you'll are doing a great job with Aubrey. It is a blessing for her to have such wonderful Grandparents. I believe that sane parents and rested parents are better parents. She is on her way to good sleep habits- she will be there soon. You'll can make it and so will she. I hope to see you'll soon and meet little Aubrey.

I remember the first time Ben slept through a feeding in the night. We woke up at 6 a.m. and it hit us that we had not heard him for like 6 hours. I shot up in bed and went running into his room and found him sleeping peacefully. Of course, in my rush, I woke the little man up.

We miss you guys and enjoy reading about your adventures in parenting.
