Firsts
With a new baby, EVERYTHING is a first and it never gets old witnessing them. This past weekend, Aubrey had many! She took her first plane ride, made her first trip to Grandma and Grandpa Waldorf's house, traveled outside of Florida for the first time, met her Uncle Lee and Aunt Bethany, and my personal favorite... went 8 hours in between feedings! Just when I thought my life was doomed to a series of power naps!
Aubrey thoroughly enjoyed the plane ride, staying wide-eyed and curious the entire way there and sleeping peacefully during the trip home. Kevin and I also were able to see Chris Gaston, who so generously picked us up on his way back from Atlanta and took us to the airport in Jacksonville. It was so great to see this wonderful friend and to have him meet Aubrey, who could very well turn out to be his future daughter-in-law! Although he will tell you her temperament was touch and go as she was on the verge of a meltdown as we went through security.
I have to say, I am still trying to recover two days later from a short weekend trip. The amount of energy (and luggage) it takes to travel with an eight week old amazes me. We could have easily been confused with a family taking a month-long vacation. Despite the juggling it took to get us to Georgia and back, I wouldn't change anything... I saw this weekend just how much Aubrey is loved. My mom was practically pinching her to get her to wake up from naps so she could scoop her up, and I think Steve woke up early just so he wouldn't have to compete with anyone to spend time with her. And smooth Uncle Brigham turned to mush when he saw that gummy little smile.
I am enjoying every minute with my daughter and don't want to rush her, but I am so excited for her to experience more of life's firsts and watch her family be with her every step of the way.

Keena- you look great. You certainly don't look like you just had a baby 8 weeks ago! You'll are such a beautiful family. Aubrey is so precious.
You overcame a huge first- traveling in general is a mighty feat. It sounds like it all went smoothly. You'll rae pros now for the next big adventure. It's crazy how many things such a tiny baby needs! Certainly seems out of proportion to me.
Bless you guys as you enjoy each first together as family. It only gets better, if you can even imagine that!!!
