If at first you don't succeed...

Oh happy day! Kevin has been trying to give Aubrey a bottle a day since she's been born. The first try was a huge success and we thought we were in the clear. Well, once again we were proven wrong. Since then, the most she's ever taken from a bottle was 1 and 1/2 oz and then proceeded to cry as if we haven't fed her in a week. Don't worry, she is getting nourishment... I am breastfeeding her after all. But I was beginning to have visions of her never taking a bottle and then having to nurse her into her toddler years!

So we bought every bottle, thinking surely one of them would work. Was it the high-end Dr. Brown's bottle that I see the celebrity moms using? Or the Vent-Air that was marketed as being the best transition from nursing to the bottle?? Nope! Our girl prefers the old-school stuff. After a few attempts, a Gerber bottle costing all of $1.99 without any bells and whistles whatsoever did the trick. Praise God for small miracles as today was the first time she finished it! Hopefully this empty bottle is a sign of many more to come!

Kevin:

If you truly loved your wife and daughter, you'd learn to lactate and take some of the pressure off. It's time to step it up!

I will definitely have to mention that to folks in the NICU! I guess you can be glad that she has not developed expensive taste yet.
